This summer the

Olympic Games

has come to London and there aren't many publications and features in the capital not writing about the event in one form or another.

I was commissioned to get a stand-out photo of the Olympic Stadium for a full bleed spread in the Post Office's

subspace

magazine.

So I set out to get a night shot where I'd (hopefully) get colour in the sky and bright lights in the stadium and surrounding buildings.

The challenge for this was to find a vista point where I was high enough to see over the stadium to get other building in the shot.

The image the was selected for the spread

Although there it was too cloudy for a

colourful sunset, the

dramatic clouds worked pretty well.  I also lucked out as there was opening ceremony rehersals in the stadium that night and it was lit up like a Christmas tree.  The array of 'search lights' beaming into the sky was the icing on the cake!  :)

See also a dramatic time lapse of the the stadium recorded at the same time.
